How does a foreigner buy real estate in Florida?

My mother in law is from Russia and is interested in buying some real estate in Florida. Does anyone know what requirements and steps are needed to do this? I have been looking all over the internet and can’t really find anything on it.

Cash is useful in this process! or buy it with a partner that is a US citizen. The money will need to age maybe 90 days in the US before closing. Plan a method of documenting where it came from! They will probably ask in this situation and you need to be able to "prove it." So if there is an account overseas, bring statements that show the money has been in the account for a few months and then statements from the US Bank see? If you try to bring the money into the US and use it immediately in Florida for a closing they will hold up even a wire transfer! Maybe 3-5 days. Cashiers checks will be held in Florida for maybe 7-10 days! Even if drawn on a US bank. So best case scenario put the money into the bank that is going to give you the loan if you need a loan, then it will be able to check it’s own records and that is easy! Good luck.

Will the housing market in South Florida continue to rise or will it start a decline?

I use http://www.HomePriceMaps.com to see how much homes sold for in a particular area by zipcode and/or city. Also-if you don’t see any data for your area you can email them your info and they will quickly post home data for your area and email you within a day or two. pretty convenient.

What do you think I should do? and Is Florida real estate a good investment?

I always want to work towards something. For example right now all my money that I get from work is going towards an apartment that I would like to move into this summer. But my plans have kind of changed now because the apartment that I have been looking at is for people who work in a certain type of job that I do not work in. So if I don’t pull some strings I doubt that I will get the apartment thats I am looking at.

So now I am thinking of saving my money and working towards investing my money and buying some real estate. Preferably a place In Florida.

I really would like a big change in my life and I think relocating would be good for me right now. I am also looking into being a international student for a college there as well.

So my questions are, do you think it would be a good idea to do this? and to buy a place in Florida, do you think it is a good investment?
I have a job that allows me to pack and move anywhere still doing my job I do now.

I would love to buy In the UK but it is way too expensive.

Buy a house if you want to live in a house. Don’t buy a house as an investment.

1. Houses are overpriced right now.
2. Houses require a lot of maintenance.
3. A house will lock all of your money. Its not diversified. If a hurricane destroys your house, you’re screwed.
4. A house becomes a liability. It becomes hard for you to pick up and move somewhere else. It locks you down.

I’d suggest investing in stocks, mutual funds, bonds, and gold. Later on a house when you’re about to get settled.

What is your opionion of the current housing market in South Florida?

Do you think it will continue statis quo, improve, or decline?

NAPELS IS WAY OVER PRICED, LIKE A LOT OF PLACES IN CA. I THINK SOME AREAS WILL IMPROVE, SOME WILL STAY THE SAME, AND THOSE THAT ARE EXTREMELY HIGH WILL DECLINE. WISH MY PLACE WAS THERE. I WOULD MAKE A PRETTY PENNY IF IT WAS SOLD DOWN THERE.
